Our School Rules
In Rector Drew School we have high expectations of behaviour.
We have five rules that we expect all members of our school community to follow:
When children keep our rules they are rewarded by:
- Verbal Praise
- Stickers given
- House points for good work and behaviour
- Certificates awarded for gaining House Points
- Whole class rewards may also be used (E.g. ladder, marbles in jar, smiley face)
- Sharing good work / rewarding good behaviour during assembly
- Golden time given in full to all pupils at the start of the week – 20 minutes
If people choose to break our school rules there is a heirarchy of consequences. Usually we start at the bottom of the heirarchy and work our way up to more serious consequences, but we can jump in at any level of the heirarchy if we deem it appropriate to the misdemeanour.
Consquences In the classroom:
- Teacher to praise someone near the person who is not keeping our rules in order to gently remind them of our expectations.
- Teacher to use use eye contact, body position, gesture etc to refocus the innapropriate behaviour.
- Warning given, placing the responsibility on the child to choose the appropriate behaviour and inform that the consequence is to lose golden time minutes in blocks of 5 mins (Y3 = 2 mins). If a pupil loses golden time for 3 consecutive weeks they will be given a DTO.
- Time Out and reflection sheet. Records of which are kept by the teacher.
- DTO given. DTO book filled in and DTO letter sent home to parents.
- 3 DTOs will result in a meeting with class teacher and parent / pupil to discuss a behaviour plan and tracking sheet.
- Review the behaviour plan after 4 weeks. If there is sufficient improvement take pupil off the behaviour plan and monitor.
- If there is no or little improvement refer to Head teacher for further meeting with parent / pupil and teacher.
- References will be made to steps for exclusion if no improvement is made.
Instant DTOs are given for:-
- Being disrespectful
- Being unsafe
- Being dishonest
